S/V Papa Rumba

Welcome to S/V Papa Rumba

Papa Rumba in Malta

The S/V Papa Rumba is a Dutch built, steel Van de Stadt designed bluewater cruising yacht. At just under 40′ (12 meters) she is the ideal size for a liveaboard vessel with the capability to go from offshore passagemaking to coastal gunkholing. Her traditional masthead, cutter rig gives her great flexibility with relatively straight-forward maintenance. The pilothouse gives great visibility while protecting crew from the elements.

The philosophy of Papa Rumba is simple and basic. She is a liveaboard intended for exploration along the B.C. and Alaskan coasts. After years of sailing the Patagonian channels aboard a beautiful yacht with teak and holly floors, reality set in. Function and practicality. Papa Rumba’s floors are plywood. Although she may not have the same world-wide comfort of her big sister, S/V Darwin’s Passage, she has the practicality to carry us into smaller areas and shallower waters.

We look forward to friends and family joining us on our adventures. Please check the logbook to the left for updates on our trips!
